How to Configure Avast Web Shield

Avast web shield continuously tests the information you see as you browse the net and stops any potential threats in real-time. This shields you from ransomware that locks your files and requires payment in order to unlock them. It also shields you from Trojans which pose as legitimate software, but infect your device with malware. Web shield detects phishing sites that attempt to steal personal data.

Avira offers multiple settings to customize the way avast Web Shield operates. For instance, you can change the sensitivity setting which controls the level of the way avast Web Shield scans your data whenever you connect to the internet. You can also enable or disable HTTPS scanning or script scanning. It is also possible to stop botnet attacks. You can also make an exclusion list to block certain programs from being detected by the web shield.

If avast detects malware, or a potentially unwanted program on your system, avast will attempt to repair the file first. If it is not repairable, avast will move the file to Quarantine and inform you of its findings. You can also select an action for avast to take if the virus is detected.

If a website or app that you are confident is safe is blocked by Avast, you can add it to the exceptions list to ensure that it is never blocked again. This can be done by selecting the Real-Time Shields tab and then selecting the Web Shield or File Shield item from the list. The method for adding an app or website to the exceptions list is slightly different for the Avast Security and Avast One apps.
