Avast is an established antivirus program that’s loaded with powerful malware detection abilities. The antivirus software safeguards your device from ransomware, identity theft and all sorts of adware and spyware attacks. It also comes with important online security features including PC backup and recovery, daily security updates and real-time protection for websites. Its user interface is intuitive and easy to use. It is compatible with older computers and has the ability to scan quickly which makes it a great choice for users who are busy.
On the other aspect, Webroot’s approach to protection isn’t the most common. It puts any suspicious files or programs in a virtual sandbox in which it examines their behavior to determine if they pose a threat. This is not the way that testing labs test antivirus software and could alter the scores Webroot receives in some evaluations. MRG Effitas, however, found that Webroot blocked the majority of threats either automatically or within 24 hours. Webroot’s unique approach to protection makes it the winner in this field.
Avast’s wide range of support options are another excellent feature. The company has a knowledgebase on its site that contains tutorials for support as well as a residential area forum for users to ask questions and get answers. It also offers support via phone for customers with premium accounts (with lines in Europe and the US) and live chat.
Webroot, on the other hand, doesn’t provide as many options for support directly. It does have a large presence on social media, and offers users free discussion boards. Its customer support is more responsive than that of Avast, however, it requires a subscription to use its phone support.
